Burned industrial building in San Po Kong still closed off
The Wing Hin Factory Building in San Po Kong is still under lockdown after it burned for about 15 hours yesterday, as authorities were assessing the structural issues to determine whether it would be safe to let tenants in.
All lanes of Ng Fong Street and Choi Yee Lane, which were closed due to the fire, are re-opened to all traffic. However, all lanes of Sze Mei Street (both bounds) Luk Hop Street and Choi Hung Road are still closed. Affected bus routes have been diverted.
The fire broke out at the building on Choi Hung Road at 5.17 am on Saturday and was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 8.53 am on the same day.
Firemen used five jets and mobilised five breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze, which was finally put out at 8.08 pm. One person felt unwell and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
The building is undergoing renovation work with its exterior walls surrounded by scaffolding.
