(Budget 2023-24) More sweetener as gov't rolls out another HK$5,000 consumption voucher
Hong Kong will be rolling out another round of electronic consumption voucher worth HK$5,000 again in two installments to permanent adult residents and new arrivals, financial secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said.
People coming to the SAR on different admission schemes and overseas students studying in Hong Kong will also receive the voucher in half value at HK$2,500.
Delivering the first Budget of this government term Wednesday morning, Chan said authorities will first disburse the consumption voucher valued at HK$3,000 in April this year using the registration data of last year's scheme.
The remaining voucher will be disbursed together with the vouchers for the new eligible persons in the middle of the year.
The sweetener came as Chan recalled how the initiative was well received by the communities and factored in the current economic situation, people's livelihood and the government's financial position.
