Buddhist funeral scheduled for Abby Choi in Tai Wai on June 18: sources
A Buddhist funeral for slain model and socialite Abby Choi Tin-fung has been scheduled at Po Fook Memorial Hall in Tai Wai on June 18, sources said.
Following the funeral service, Choi’s body will be sent to Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island for cremation the next day.
After the horrible murder occurred in a Tai Po village on February 28, her family finally retrieved the body parts from Fu Shan Public Mortuary last month.
A source said the family of Choi’s husband, Chris Tam, has been asking workers to recover into one piece as much of Choi’s body as possible as a sign of respect for the deceased 28-year-old.
Given that not all body parts of Choi have been found yet, her body will not be viewed by guests and visitors at the funeral – a common practice during a Chinese funeral.
Sources added her missing body parts will be replaced by paper models and her coffin will be sealed right away.
According to Feng Shui master Au Chung-tak, Po Fook Memorial Hall is the appropriate venue for staging Choi’s funeral as the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery in Po Fook Hill is nearby, where broken souls can be protected by the Bodhisattva and rest in peace.
