Brazilian Firefighter Plays Trumpet to Lift Spirits During Coronavirus Lockdown
Firefighter Elielson Silva stood atop a retractable ladder on a fire truck and played music for isolated Rio de Janiero residents to lift their spirits amid the coronavirus pandemic, Sunday, April 5.
Silva performed all over the city, playing songs known across Brazil, especially those composed in and about Rio.
Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro has spoken out, criticizing shutdown orders that he says could cripple the economy. However, a poll in April found that nearly 80% of Brazilians support social isolation.
