Boy who slashed own wrist at Kwun Tong school saved by alert staff
An 18-year-old boy attempted suicide this morning by slitting his wrist but was saved by the prompt action of school authorities, police said on Friday.
It is understood that a social worker posted to the Kwun Tong secondary school spotted the student’s wrist bleeding at 9am this morning during school time, and immediately alerted other teaching staff and filed a report to the police force.
Police said the boy had already calmed down when officers responded to the school, with the boy brought to United Christian Hospital after paramedics treated his wounds on site.
The force said the boy has a history of mental illness, with the case now handed back to the school and relevant departments for follow-up.
