Rescue crew found the body of Shou Fugang, CEO of China Bank of Communications Insurance Co Ltd, at Mount Hallowes in Sai Kung on Friday.
The 59-year-old Shou went hiking alone at Shek Uk Shan in Sai Kung this Sunday but went missing as his family lost contact with him.
He originally had plans with a female relative on Sunday night but didn't show up. The woman called Shou but he didn't answer. She then contacted Shou's wife who is now in Mainland, and found out that Shou went hiking alone in the morning.
Around 9am on Monday, the woman called the bank where Shou worked at and found out he didn't not show up at work, causing her to file a report to police.
As officers didn't know where Shou went hiking, they checked security footage of his house in Braemar Hill in North Point. They found that Shou left his home around 6am on Sunday and headed to Tin Hau on a minibus. Officers also found Shou appearing near Shek Uk Shan in Sai Kung around 1pm, and immediately formed a rescue crew to look for him.
Firemen and officers from the Civil Aid Service were mobilized to the scene, while rescue dogs and helicopters of the government Flying Service were called as well.
