"Biden" and "Trump" join satirical Cantonese opera
“Joe Biden” has made an appearance in a satirical Cantonese opera centered on former US President Donald Trump.
A four-day rerun of "Trump on Show" will finish on Sunday night at West Kowloon's Xiqu Centre.
The show first debuted at Sunbeam Theater in North Point two years ago, attracting international headlines.
Directed by feng shui master Edward Li Kui-ming, it is about Trump and his fictional twin brother Chuan Pu, who lived in China during the Cultural Revolution.
The story also involves North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Mao's wife Jiang Qing and even aliens and ghosts.
During the rerun, a new character “Biden” is introduced. He is played by Roger Chan Hung-chun.
Loong Koon-tin, who plays three characters -- Trump, Chuan Pu and former leader Mao Zedong -- said the opera attracted young audiences. Many of them were watching a Cantonese opera for the first time.
Li said he hoped the opera can reduce Sino-US tension.
He is also working on a new opera about the end of the Gang of Four in the mainland during the 70s.
The gang was led by Mao's wife Jiang Qing, with the other members being Zhang Chunqiao, Yao Wenyuan and Wang Hongwen.
