Bell's palsy, a kind of temporary facial paralysis, was listed as a very rare side effect that would take place after receiving the Sinovac vaccine.

Sinovac Biotech Ltd on July 7 submitted an application for amendment to the Department of Health. The amendment was examined by the Advisory Panel on Covid
, and approved by the food and Health Bureau.
A total of 128 suspected cases involving Bell's palsy were reported as of June 30. Among these cases 117 were confirmed involving Bell's palsy. The cases involved 70 men and 47 women, aged from 17 to 87, in which 53 of them received the Sinovac vaccine
