Beauty parlors have seen full bookings in the first one to two weeks from Thursday, when they are allowed to reopen amid relaxed social distancing measures, a veteran said.
But some unvaccinated customers have demanded refunds because they can't enjoy pre-paid treatments under the "no jab, no entry
vaccine pass" policy.
Federation of Beauty Industry chairman Nelson Yip Sai-hung said on Monday that the industry has been preparing for the reopening and is expecting overwhelming bookings in the coming two weeks.
“If beauty parlors are ordered to be closed again, we hope it would only be temporary and no more punitive closure,” he said.
As for tourism industry, local tours in Hong Kong are expected to resume from Thursday, with no more than 30 guests per tour group on the condition that all working staff are triple vaccinated and conduct rapid antigen tests before the tour.
Thus, tour group size can be relinquished to 100, given both guides and participants are triple vaccinated and conduct rapid antigen test prior to the tour.
Hong Kong Tourism Association executive director Timothy Chui Ting-pong supported the decision and said that not only local tour agencies but also tour guides and tour bus drivers can finally resume work.
Meanwhile, dine in service in the restaurant until 10pm, with a cap of four diners each table will also start on Thursday.
Chairman of Hong Kong Catering Services Management Association Leung Chun-wah said smaller restaurants would regain business after Thursday and expected industry business to reach 50 percent pre-pandemic level.
