Incoming Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu is expected to meet with China’s top leadership next Monday (May 30) as he sets off to Beijing on Saturday morning.
Lee left his home in Ho Man Tin around 9am this morning without taking questions from reporters. His wife, personal secretary, and news secretary will go to Beijing alongside Lee.
It is understood that Lee’s visit to Beijing will adopt the “closed-loop management,” and he will not attend any public event or meet the press due to
Covid.
He is expected to return to Hong Kong next Tuesday (May 31).
Lee was appointed as Hong Kong’s sixth Chief Executive by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at the seventh plenary meeting of the State Council on Friday last week (May 20).
