Another ceiling collapse incident sees concrete slab fall at Kwai Chung Hospital, destroying printer
Hong Kong has seen yet another ceiling collapse incident, with slabs of concrete falling from the ceiling inside a consultation room of Kwai Chung Hospital early Wednesday, destroying a printer underneath.
The news came to light after netizens shared photos of the scene online. The printer can be seen as badly damaged by the falling concrete.
Representatives of the Hospital Authority said in a press conference that the concrete pieces, with the biggest one sized at about 30 centimeters by 30 centimeters, fell into the child and adolescent psychiatric consultation room located on the 1st floor of Block L of the hospital at around 3.30am.
They also outlined details of the Authority's strategy and measures to manage hospital facilities' maintenance issues, including requesting all clusters and hospitals to complete a preliminary inspection of the facilities within one month and strengthen the existing facility maintenance.
This is the second case of its kind within months, which saw a chunk of concrete fall off at a Castle Peak Hospital ward and land on a vacant bed in November last year. The Hospital Authority had not disclosed the incident until after it came to light on Sunday (Mar 5).
