Allan Zeman lost in Election Committee constituency; Priscilla Leung named as top winner
Allan Zeman, “father of Lan Kwai Fong,” has lost in the Election Committee constituency of the Legislative Council election.
Also failing to be elected are Andrew Fung Wai-kwong, the former Information Coordinator for the Office of the Chief Executive during Leung Chun-ying’s term; and Gary Wong Chi-him, from the think tank Path of Democracy.
All nine incumbent lawmakers Alice Mak Mei-kuen, Michael Luk Chung-hung, Horace Cheung Kwok-kwan, Elizabeth Quat Pui-fan, Priscilla Leung Mei-fun, Eunice Yung Hoi-yan, Ma Fung-kwok, Paul Tse Wai-chun, and Junius Ho Kwan-yiu succeeded in getting re-elected.
Among the winners, Priscilla Leung snatched the highest number of votes with a total of 1,348 ballots in her favor.
The Election Committee constituency also saw some new faces winning through to the Legco, including former secretary for security Lai Tung-kwok and Reverend Canon Peter Koon Ho-ming.
A total of 1,448 Election Committee members are empowered to elect 40 lawmakers among a total of 90. Another 30 people are elected in functional constituencies representing different sectors, while the remaining 20 are directly elected in geographical constituencies by general voters.
Fifty-one candidates were vying for the 40 seats in the Election Committee vote.
Preliminary counting of votes for the Election Committee constituency had finished by 2am Monday, with results finalized at around 2.30am.
