Activist groups submit petitions to the government's headquarters on Labor Day
The League of Social Democrats and Hong Kong Women Workers' Association headed to the Central Government Offices in Admiralty to submit petitions on Labor Day.
Members of the League of Social Democrats, which included activists Chan Po-ying and Raphael Wong Ho-ming, headed to the offices to hand in their petition letter, requesting the government to inspect and adjust the minimum wage once per year.
They also requested the government set standardized working hours, establish a universal retirement scheme, and provide unemployment assistance.
Before submitting the petitions, some police officers warned Chan to ensure that the petitioning follows the national security law and not to do anything that would damage national security, along with reminding them the anti-mask law is still in effect.
Separately, the Hong Kong Women Worker's Association also submitted their petition to the government's headquarters, requesting that the government set up laws to safeguard the freelancers' interests and increase the amount of allowance from the Working Family Allowance Scheme.
