About 810,000 people get second batch of electronic consumption vouchers
About 810,000 people have received the second batch of electronic consumption vouchers as of Monday, the government announced.
They are those who received the first voucher on September 1. SMS or mobile app push notifications have been sent to them on the same day.
For those who choose to receive the vouchers through Alipay Hong Kong, Tap & Go or WeChat Pay HK, the vouchers will be credited directly to their designated stored value payment tool accounts.
The second installment of HK$3,000 will stay valid till January 31 next year, along with the first installment of HK$2,000. Any unused balance will expire automatically after the date.
Those who chose to collect the vouchers via Octopus may collect them by tapping the card at the Subsidy Collection Points of the Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme at MTR stations, Light Rail Customer Service Centres, designated piers and public transport interchanges; designated convenience stores and supermarkets; Octopus Service Points; or via the Octopus app.
The voucher will be combined with the value stored in the Octopus card. People can make payments using the Octopus card as usual.
For Octopus users, the values of the first and second vouchers are both HK$2,000. When the total "eligible spending" has reached HK$4,000 within the fourth to seventh month from the disbursement of the first voucher, the HK$1,000 third voucher will be disbursed on the 16th day of the following month.
For those who registered later and received their first consumption voucher on October 1, they will receive the second voucher on December 1.
The spokesman reiterated that if merchants accept payments by any of the four platforms under the scheme, they cannot impose additional fees or restrictions for the coupons' use.
