The officer and his family members were later granted an anonymity order.
The driver, Eric Wong Kwok-leung, pleaded guilty to contempt of court after publishing the officer's personal details on
Facebook, including his name, police ID number, address, phone number, and the names and phone numbers of his wife and two daughters.
Wong was arrested in January 2020 and admitted to posting the information, but claimed he forgot about it.
During the investigation, Wong also misled the police.
The Department of Justice (DoJ) took legal action against Wong, and Judge Russell Coleman ordered him to pay HK$25,000 in legal fees.
