A first look at the Arca, Hong Kong's newest urban hotel opening in Wong Chuk Hang

The Arca redefines Hong Kong's hotel scene with its tranquil, mountainous location in the city's Southern District and its urban, artsy energy.

The newest hotel addition to Yulan Group‘s property portfolio, the Arca redefines Hong Kong’s hotel scene with its tranquil, mountainous location in the city’s Southern District and its urban, artsy energy.

Currently in its soft launch phase, Yulan Group’s new flagship destination, the Arca is a hub for arts and recreation. With prime spot in Wong Chuk Hang overlooking Aberdeen Harbour and rolling mountains, the hotel is “a playground for millennial explorers, discerning travellers, art and design aficionados and pet lovers.”

“With the Arca, we have set out to offer a new breed of hospitality. With art and design at its core, the Arca is a communal hub that encourages guests to express their desires and share ideas and inspiration with one another.“
Justin Ma, Founder & CEO of Yulan Group Limited

The hotel

A hub for art and culture, the Arca has curated over 40 artworks by some of Hong Kong’s most celebrated artists and up-and-coming talents, alongside works from the international art scene. “Designed in collaboration with local design studio Design Eight Five Two (DEFT) with the ethos of ‘every detail matters’, the Arca is the product of more than two years of rigorous bespoke design,” — and the devil truly is in the details here. Guests can’t miss the rooftop mural by artists Rebecca Lin and Carol Mui AKA #creativehustlersoverlooking over the infinity pool, and the “Meet Tourist” photography series by Laurent Segretier, the Paris-based French fine art photographer, which is displayed in guest rooms.

With top-notch amenities and impeccable service, the Arca is only a seven minute walk from Wong Chuk Hang MTR station, and is ideally situated for those looking to get out and explore the area. With links to the heart of Hong Kong on your doorstep, reach Central, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui in under 15 minutes.

The rooms

Offering 187 chic hotel rooms and stunning suites, each room has been specially designed to provide comfort and contemporary living. Featuring an array of room types, there are seven to choose from to help you in planning the perfect trip or weekend staycation. Each room has an abundance of natural light and kitted out with pieces of art unique to that room. Choose from a City Signature that looks out over the mountainside and views of the water, a City Buddies room that comfortably accommodates three adults and is ideal for a weekend away with friends, or perhaps opt for an indulgent suite; over 700 square feet of living space and extravagant harbour views.

The amenities

Opening in Q3 of this year, an undeniable highlight of the hotel has to be its Sky Bar and unique infinity pool. Perching over Aberdeen Harbour, swim above the ocean, enjoy a tipple overlooking the iconic Jumbo Restaurant, or spend the afternoon soaking up the sun high above Hong Kong. Gym-goers can frequent Arca Fit – a state-of-the-art fitness studio adorned with quirky, instagrammable slogans and high-end workout equipment; while those looking to host their next celebration or event can book the Arca Assembly, a versatile multifunctional event and function space that can comfortably accommodate over 800 guests.

Whether you’re working or kicking back with a cocktail, be sure to check out its pet-friendly, giant outdoor terrace, featuring an iconic sculpture crafted by coveted Italian sculptor, Roberto Barni.
