43-hour hill fire in Tuen Mun put out

A hill fire at Castle Peak in Teun Mun that blazed for up to 43 hours was put out on Friday noon.
The fire had started at around 4.53pm Wednesday, where firefighters and the Government Flying Service were called on scene to fight the blaze.

A combination of firefighters on the ground and the Government Flying Service dropping water bombs finally extinguished the blaze at 11.39am Friday.

Firefighters were still on standby at the scene to prevent the fire from rekindling.

A Fire Services Department spokesman said no one was injured in the hill fire and no evacuation was needed. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
